Residential water use accounts for approximately 50% of the total water demand in Abbotsford and an estimated 60% in Mission.
Each Abbotsford resident consumes an average of 200 litres per day (L/d). Mission is not currently metered. For planning purposes, it is assumed that each resident uses the BC average of 440 L/d.
Outdoor water use accounts for about 23% of total annual average daily use.
This ratio of outdoor to indoor use is high in comparison to similarly sized urban communities, where outdoor residential use is between 5 to 10%.
